Spotlight on You...Feb. 16, 2006

The Gustavus admission office has a new look and customizable content on the web to better engage prospective students. This summer a similar system, ActiveAlumni, will launch to better engage Gustavus graduates. As part of these tools, spotlights featuring faculty, students, staff, and alumni will be provided to prospective students and alumni, based on their interests. For example, a prospective student who is interested in majoring in music, will receive spotlights on faculty, students, and alumni who are (or were) involved in music. To populate the database, all faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to fill out a brief survey, located under Gustavus profiles online. A variety of stories are needed to make these tools most effective. For more information, please contact Barb Larson Taylor (btaylor@gustavus.edu or x7515) or Stacia Senne (ssenne@gustavus.edu or x6395).

Template Update for Web...Dec. 8, 2005

During the week of Dec. 19, Web Services will update the College Web template set to complement the launch of the new Liquid Matrix-enhanced pages and to provide enhanced accessibility and standards compliance. Posting rights for all content publishers will be temporarily suspended and can be restored by contacting Web Services. In order to prevent potential problems and answer questions during this transition, Web Services will hold a series of workshops for authorized content publishers. For further information and updates regarding this project, please refer to the Web Services blog or e-mail webmaster@gustavus.edu.

New Admission Website...Dec. 1, 2005

The Gustavus admission website will have a new look and content customized to individual prospective students beginning the week of Dec. 12. The new site will feature faculty members, students, staff, and alumni profiles that highlight specific academic, creative, or other interest. For example, a prospective student who is interested in majoring in music will receive spotlights on faculty members, students, and alumni who are (or were) involved in music. College staff in many areas, including Advancement, Admission, and Gustavus Technology Services, have been working diligently to implement this tool known as ActiveAdmission and will sign off on it Dec. 5. For more information, please contact Barb Larson Taylor (btaylor@gustavus.edu or x7515) or Stacia Senne (ssenne@gustavus.edu or x6395).

New Online Tool for Admission, Alumni...Sept. 22, 2005

Beginning in December, the Gustavus Admission Office website will have a new look and customizable content directed at prospective students' individual interests. The look of the new admission site will complement the upcoming redesign of the Gustavus homepage. This new system, called Liquid Matrix, selects content based on interests that prospective students identify when initially signing into the site. It will also provide updates on application status and is directly compatible with current database programs at the College, eliminating some re-entry of information. In the spring, a similar system will be launched for Gustavus alumni. More information on these projects will be coming in the following weeks.
